Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year. It’s a time to gather with family and fill up on a delicious home-cooked meal. If your house is anything like mine, it’s filled with excited children! Here are 5 festive activities the kids will love.
Want to dress up the kids table? What’s better than decor that doubles as a snack?! Thanksgiving meals often take a long time to cook. Give the little bellies something to nibble on while they wait for the main meal.
Need to get the kids out of your hair while you finish cooking? A backyard scavenger hunt is perfect! Print a list of items out and glue it to a paper bag. Attach a crayon with some ribbon and the kids are set for at least 20 minutes!
Occupy the little ones with a cute craft like this! The best part about this Thanksgiving craft is that it doesn’t require paint. This means you can do other things without worrying about damaged furniture or stained carpet. For younger kids, cut all the shapes in advance.
We couldn’t publish this blog post without including a sweet treat! Bake the cupcakes in advance and let the kids decorate them while you’re doing the dishes! Have them frost the cupcake, then stick in the Nutter Butter’s and Candy Corn. Slice a piece of a Twizzler to make the wattle, use half an M&M to make the nose (you could also just use another piece of Candy Corn), and use edible googly-eyes (you can find these in the baking section at your local grocery store). To make the candy stick, use frosting glue.
Don’t let the kids forget about what this holiday is really about. With all the preparations that go into a Thanksgiving feast, it’s easy to forget the reason for the occasion. This Thankful Turkey craft is easy and SO cute! Have the kids write what they are thankful for on each “feather”.
You’ve cooked and entertained all day, and now you’re stuffed from a yummy Thanksgiving feast. What would be better than a space to relax? The dishes can wait.
