Goodbye Concrete, Hello Backyard Paradise!

Goodbye Concrete, Hello Backyard Paradise!

In this month’s transformation blog, we’re giving you the inside scoop on the most in-demand element of the season – fiberglass pools! We began installing pools in 2016. Since then, we have completed over 20 pool projects. Those years of experience led us to exclusively work with fiberglass. Fiberglass is low-maintenance, extremely durable, cost-effective, and quickly installed. Read on for an in-depth look at one of our recent swimming pool projects, from the initial design to the final reveal.

When we first met with these Weatherby Lake clients, they were struggling with a backyard that didn’t suit their lifestyle. The previous homeowners had poured a concrete slab to store their RV; but what was once functional parking, was now wasted space. We couldn’t wait to transform their yard into a swimming pool paradise!

The first step for all of our makeovers is a design consultation. During this appointment, a designer met with the family to discuss their vision, budget, and begin working on a design. The final plan was then made into a 3D rendering to help visualize how the project would look upon completion. These clients selected the Astoria model from Latham, a gorgeous rectilinear pool with an attached spa and wading area.

We began construction in January. Once the old concrete was demoed, it was time to dig the hole in which the shell would be set. Many people have concerns about installing a pool in winter, but fear not! As you can see in this photo, so long as the ground isn’t frozen, the show will go on!

In the next phase, the shell was delivered and hoisted by crane into the backyard. Even the client’s Labradoodle, Rocky, couldn’t contain his excitement! The crew meticulously set the pool into the ground, correcting the gravel backfill until it was completely level.

Once the placement was perfected, it was time to begin working on the coping and decking. The homeowners selected the Monster Slate Stamp in the color Slate Grey. In this picture, the crew members are shaping the deck with plywood and siding.

At the start of May, the pool was officially opened and ready to hop in! The final result – what was once a drab concrete slab is now an outdoor oasis that the entire family can enjoy. Whereas liner and gunite pools can take several months to complete, this fiberglass installation was knocked out in a matter of weeks. Thanks to the durability and longevity of fiberglass, this KC family is set for a lifetime of poolside summers!
