Everyone deserves to love their backyard, right? And renovations don’t have to be overwhelming. That is why, our team will guide you through each phase of the process, from your initial consultation to the final reveal. For this month’s Transformation spotlight, these homeowners wanted to take their basic patio and turn it into something they love. Outside their walk-out basement door was a builder’s-grade concrete slab that just wasn’t cutting it anymore, so they called on Hinkle to help them transform their space!
Our process begins with a designer, Rebecca Christus, who went out to meet with the homeowners to listen to their vision for the space, take measurements and elevations, and then sit down with them to begin designing their project. Along with designing the project in this first meeting, Rebecca also ran budgetary numbers to make sure they were on track with the budget.
Once the orientation and arrangement of elements had been determined, it was time to pick out colors and finishes! Material selections are the stage where you can unleash your creativity and tailor your space to reflect your home and personality.
For this project, the ashlar slate stamp in the shade chestnut with a chocolate border was chosen for the new patio. They also decided to install some flower bed wall wraps on the front of the home, a pergola swing, a fire pit, and a few steps leading down from their deck. These things were all assembled in a 3D design, made by Rebecca during their early consultation. Their initial plans can be seen in the surrounding photos. This amazing service allows homeowners to really get an idea of what they’ve chosen!
When their spot in the construction queue arrived, their wonderful designer Rebecca passed everything needed on to the crew. The first order of business was demoing their current builder-grade patio and clearing the space for that larger stamped concrete patio.
Fire pits are a great addition to any outdoor space! They create a warm, central gathering area for entertaining well into the evening. This creates a great atmosphere for your outdoor living space. A beautiful fire pit can be the perfect focal point and look fantastic surrounded by stylish outdoor seating and attractive built-in seating walls.
This family chose Weston Wall for their wood-burning fire pit. These Aspen Blend Weston Wall blocks unify the flowerbeds in the front yard with the pergola swing and fire pit in the back.
The rough cedar pergola swing with Weston Wall post wraps is the perfect spot for their adorable swing seat. It provides shade during the day and a secondary focal point in their space, allowing for a comforting visual balance.
