Bring the Game Outdoors!

Basketball High Res

Have you ever wanted a basketball court right in the backyard? Anyone from a youngster just learning the game to someone older wanting to get some shots up, this could be a dream project. In a day and age where more and more kids are passing on outdoor activities for video games and TV, this could be the perfect way to change those habits and encourage more exercise.

Full Court or Half Court?

It’s easy to realize that some people might not have the space or be willing to fill the majority of their backyard with a basketball court. The simple answer to that is you have a choice! A full court would be ideal for setting up actual games, but a half court still fills the void of home court hoops without sacrificing a significant portion of your yard.

What Materials to Use?

While a court can be created through many different application techniques, one possible solution could be hardscape pavers for the entire surface, which would be sure to create a quality look and feel that will maintain its image for years to come! However, a more affordable possibility is the pictures included in this post. It is a recently completed Hinkle Hardscapes project that used regular concrete for the actual playing surface while surrounding it with pavers. Additionally, this example shows the traditional size that most customers request, as it provides enough space to stretch out a three-point line all the way around without taking up the entire yard. In terms of the material usage, don’t worry if you’re unsure in the beginning as one of our designers will ensure you’re satisfied before construction commences.

Countless Possibilities!

Not everyone is a pure basketball fanatic that eats and sleeps hoops. For these individuals, understand a basketball court can provide many additional usages and benefits you’re sure to enjoy.

  • Backyard Patio: When the games aren’t in session, utilize the court for some extra meeting space for parties or cookouts. It should provide plenty of room to set out some tables and chairs while enjoying the beautiful fall weather!
  • Multi-Purpose Sports Court: Just because you’re intending to make a basketball court doesn’t mean it will only have one sole purpose. With this being the case, why not add a net in the middle to transform it into a tennis, futsal, volleyball or pickle ball court?

Listed above are just a few examples. However, feel free to use your imagination in deciding how to best utilize your backyard basketball court!
