Can you say “Wowza”!? This stamped concrete patio turned out stunning! These Lenexa homeowners wanted a space to entertain their friends, host family gatherings, and a peaceful place to relax at the end of a long work day. I think it’s safe to say “Mission Accomplished!”
Check out the backyard before we got our hands on the space! This home had a small deck and a measly concrete slab. The homeowners love to grill, but lacked the space to do so.
There was also a huge limestone retaining wall. It was a bit of a bulky eye-sore. The homeowners had us take it down, to make way for the new design.
Our Senior Hardscape Designer, Ken Gibson, came up with an amazing plan for this space. Ken’s been working for Hinkle Hardscapes for the last 6 years. Before tackling the residential outdoors, Ken specialized in designing international golf courses! He’s super talented and has a great imagination.
Out with the old and in with the new! I’m sure you can imagine, it took the guys quite a few power tools to get through this massive wall.
And just a short 10 days later, voilà — a beautiful new outdoor living space! Is this fireplace out of this world gorgeous or what? These homeowners opted for a stamped concrete patio. They selected the Ashlar Slate stamp, with the Mesa color and a Chocolate border.
The fireplace is Belgard’s stunning Brighton model. The wood boxes are optional, but definitely add a “little extra something” to the space. They are also obviously very useful for storage.
A long retaining wall was added to compensate for the grade in this backyard. This also doubles as a seating wall. Seating walls are a fantastic addition to any patio project. They eliminate the need for excess furniture. Not to mention, you won’t have to worry about cushions getting wet or chairs overcrowding the space.
A pergola is a great statement piece. These homeowners opted to stain the pergola themselves, so be on the lookout for updated photos!
Our team installed ceiling fans in the pergola to make hot summer days more enjoyable.
We tied the seating wall into the pergola by adding columns around the base of the pergola. This wall was made using Belgard’s Weston Wall stone in the shade Brittany Beige.
Tah-dahh!! This patio is seriously a showstopper. This design allows the space to be used all year round. The fireplace will be a great addition to fall and winter evenings, and the pergola will provide shade on scorching summer days.
If you look closely, you’ll notice that some sections in the stamp are darker than others. Our crew hand painted some of the squares to give the concrete some more personality. It also mimics the look of pavers.
And, we can’t forget about this adorable grill cubby! The homeowners had an existing grill that they loved. We enclosed it in the same block that the seating wall is made out of. We also added a mini-fridge and a concrete counter top to make meal prepping a breeze!
