Backyard With A Fire Pit & Basket Ball Court

Are you looking for a unique outdoor living space? These Lee’s Summit homeowners wanted a space to relax, and a fun space for the kids to play. For most families, a basketball court is a perfect backyard addition. Our design team customizes outdoor living spaces for each of our clients. They don’t try to sell the same thing over and over again. They love to hear the homeowners ideas, and create a design plan that encompasses their vision.

This basketball court was designed in conjunction with a patio project. The court itself is made of standard concrete with a broom finish. It was designed this way to give the court some more traction. Stamped concrete isn’t particularly slick, but standard concrete is safer for a basketball court.

We used stamped concrete for the patio section of the space. The color the homeowner selected is in the shade Wagon Wheel. The stamp used was Monster Slate. We added diamond cuts across the patio to give it a modern twist. To give the space a little extra flare, we added a border in a shade darker than the patio. The color of the border is in the shade Chocolate.

Every patio is better with a fire pit! The curvatures in the patio were designed to create a nice transition from the basketball court to the fire pit area. This wood burning beauty was made out of Belgard Weston Wall stone in the shade Brittany Beige. The caps are manufactured by Paverstone. The shade of the caps is in Ozark Blend. It has gray and beige tones in it, syncing the fire pit with the stamped concrete.

These homeowners opted for a wood burning fire pit instead of one with a gas line. Although convenient, gas is a more expensive option.

The diamond cuts definitely make an impact on the overall look of the space. Notice the landscape beds against the house. The homeowners wanted to incorporate some plants in the space. We placed weed mat over the area and then added some beautiful decorative cobble stones. This will prevent weeds from growing and keep the space looking fresh and clean.

Alright, and now the part you’ve been looking for. Here’s the pricing breakdown:

  • Fire pit: $1,395
  • 1040 Square feet of stamped concrete: $12,480
