The Problem: No Established Area

John and Heather Wolverton and their three daughters live in a beautiful house by a lake. The green space was wonderful for the active kids, but there was a problem.

There was no established space to comfortably spend time in the backyard. It was just grass and a 10×10 patio slab.

John and Heather decided it was time to upgrade their outdoor space to be something truly special. Heather dug in to find the best Hardscapers in her area, and that’s when she found us.

Project Features:

  • Covered Structure: Included a softened gable-roofed structure to fit under the second-story windows, along with a vaulted, pine tongue and groove ceiling.  
  • Stamped Concrete Patio: Monster Slate stamp in a slate gray color, with a charcoal accent border.
  • Custom Fireplace:  Fireplace and wood boxes were built using Builder Stone’s Yukon Cutface veneer with Tennessee caps. 
  • Outdoor Kitchen: Custom stone veneer, using Builder Stone’s Yukon Cutface veneer.
  • LED Outdoor Lighting: Undercap lighting on the seat walls, fireplace, and the kitchen countertop.

The Process: Transforming an Empty Space

They chose our Monster Slate stamp in a slate gray color, with a charcoal accent border as the base for their entire patio, and it looked fantastic!

We designed their covered structure to include a softened gable-roofed structure to fit under their home’s second-story windows, along with a vaulted, pine tongue and groove ceiling. The custom stone veneer fireplace was tied into the roofline of this new structure to create a really dynamic new covered space the family could enjoy while looking out over their lake.

This custom fireplace features a widened chimney to accommodate a 60″ TV.  Two custom, stone veneer wood boxes accompany the fireplace on each side, both built using Builder Stone’s Yukon Cutface veneer, with Tennessee caps.

The grill station was built of the same custom stone veneer as the fireplace, tying the complete outdoor living area together.

With the completion of their patio — covered structure, fireplace, living space, and outdoor kitchen and grill, the Wolvertons are able to spend more time together and really take family time to the next level.
